15 Reasons You Shouldn't Ignore Item Upgrade

본문

WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item upgrade used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the Item level upgrade, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will be less expensive, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade items for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance, it's Best item upgrade to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
