World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This value is the total of all the upgraded perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the variety of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell gear players can evaluate the item level. It's an indicator of the item's condition and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be located by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to the actual Blizzard item level.

It's not the only thing that affects the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can change its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage them to try out other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. For instance, a grey or white Best item upgrade can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times with higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges as with other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats or reroll attaches. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item, or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, this would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison will not show all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially beneficial for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading which increases with each level of the item and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.

Furthermore some items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased at the store or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as high, and the probability that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. Every item has an initial success rate of 25% and every Best item upgrader that has Luck increases that chance by an additional 5percent.

The item Upgrade (securityholes.science) overlays are rendered above the items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
