How to Replace an audi key fob G28 Engine Speed Sensor

This sensor is located near the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is located on the outside of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor Audi key blade serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test since there are various pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when it is operating at its maximum. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a significant drop in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump right out. The fourth one remains shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get 0ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. However, i'm afraid that I may have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and they both work in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a wrecking yard or at a parts store. It is easy to test them - just put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know both the position and speed the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If either of these sensors go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

A damaged G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox or a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire while in the gear. It is likely that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and easy to find, especially if you're looking at an Bosch model, which is what we have. Alternatively, GM's version of this part is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues within your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission of your audi new key, as it transmits information to the ECU on how fast or slowly the car's engine is spinning. When this sensor fails, it will affect the performance of the transmission, as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, and also timig. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. There should be an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these points.
